SMETA Audit stands for Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit. It is an ethical trade audit program that aims to evaluate social responsibility performance in the supply chain and ensure that the rights of workers in the global supply chain are protected. SMETA was developed by Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) and is an independent and open data exchange platform that accepts all information about the operations of suppliers' factories for sharing by supply chain members.

Contents of SMETA Audit
1. Labor standards: Ensure that the company complies with the labor standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and local labor laws, including reasonable working hours, legal wages and salaries, no child labor, no forced labor, no discrimination policies.

2. Health and safety: Review whether the company provides safe and hygienic working conditions for employees, including whether the factory equipment meets safety standards, whether occupational health training is provided.

3. Environmental protection: Investigate the company's environmental management measures, evaluate its practices in waste treatment, energy consumption, pollution control, etc., and ensure that the company's environmental protection policies comply with international environmental laws and regulations.

4. Business ethics: Review the company's practices in business ethics such as anti-corruption and anti-bribery, and ensure that the company has transparent and fair business operations in the supply chain.

Process of applying for SMETA Audit:
1. Preparatory stage: The company needs to contact the SMETA certification body and submit an application. 

2. On-site audit: The audit team will conduct an on-site visit to the company to check workplace conditions, conduct employee interviews, and review management documents, etc.

3. Post-audit improvement: The audit team prepares a detailed audit report, lists the observations, and the company needs to respond and rectify the problems.
