What is GB 8624-2012
GB 8624-2012 "Classification of Combustion Performance of Building Materials and Products" is a Chinese national standard used to evaluate the combustion performance of building materials. The standard divides the combustion performance of building materials into four levels: Class A (non-combustible materials), Class B1 (flammable materials), Class B2 (combustible materials) and Class B3 (flammable materials).

GB 8624-2012 test method
The main purpose of the fire rating test is to ensure that the materials and components used in the building meet the relevant fire protection regulations and improve the fire resistance of the building. The test methods include vertical combustion test, horizontal combustion test, smoke density test and heat release rate test. During the test, data such as combustion rate, heat release rate and smoke density will be recorded to accurately evaluate the combustion performance of the sample.

GB 8624-2012 Importance
1. Improve product quality and safety Products certified by GB 8624-2012 must meet the flame retardant performance requirements of the national standard, which helps to improve product safety.
2. Facilitate market supervision: Products that have passed the flame retardant grade certification need to undergo strict testing and review, which helps market supervision departments monitor the quality of flame retardant products and protect the rights and interests of consumers.
3. Promote international trade: With the development of international trade, more and more countries and regions have begun to implement flame retardant grade certification for imported products. Products that have obtained GB 8624-2012 certification can improve the international competitiveness of products.

GB 8624-2012 application areas
Building material fire performance testing: Evaluate the combustion performance of building materials in fire.
Furniture and household goods fire performance testing: Evaluate the fire performance in daily use.
Electrical product fire performance testing: Evaluate the fire performance of electrical products in normal working or faulty conditions.

Vehicle fire performance testing: Evaluate the fire performance of vehicles such as cars, ships, and airplanes.
Fire safety facility testing: Evaluate the performance of fire facilities such as fire extinguishers and fire hydrants.
